DRAWING IN COLOR

Drawing in color is an exciting process with huge impact and expressive qualities. This basic drawing class introduces colored pencils, oil pastels, traditional soft pastels, and other color media, with a variety of subject matter to develop dynamic drawing compositions.

 

 

Supplies

 

First class bring-

Prismacolor colored pencils 24 (or 12), plus a colorless blender pencil

Stick of soft compressed dark charcoal (like Char-cole)

Soft drawing pencil

White plastic eraser

Kneaded gum eraser

Sketch pad—white 18x24” multi-purpose paper, ie., Strathmore 80lb. 400 series

Drawing board for this paper size

Pencil sharpener

Ruler 18”

Color wheel

Plastic adjustable viewfinder with sliding window

Soft cotton rags

Drafting or masking tape

 

Later—after discussion in class:

Plastic palette knife w/point

Oil pastels set called Caran d’Ache Neopastels ---must be very rich and creamy

Soft pastels---good brands are Rembrandt or Sennelier, etc. ---(a good range of colors, or a set of 15         whole sticks or 30 half-sticks)—also must be rich and creamy
